Personal Logo Design

My process for designing my logo

I created this logo in the summer of 2020 as part of an advanced graphic design course in undergrad. This was the start of many logo designs to come.

Word Cloud

Defining my brand

Using a piece of copy paper, a pack of sticky notes, and colored markers, I created this word cloud representing my personal brand.

Ideation

Sketching early concepts

Using colored markers and copy paper I began to sketch different concepts for my logo. I explored abstract symbols, words, and graphic elements.

Digital Refinement

Translating sketches to vector graphics

Once I had narrowed down some concepts that I liked, I began mocking them up in Adobe Illustrator. This allowed me to quickly modify each design.

Glasses

A nod to my personal aesthetic

I've worn glasses my whole life. I associate them closely with my identity. Therefore, it felt fitting that a pair of glasses should be incorporated into my logo.

Clouds

A nod to my name

With my name being Sky, it felt fitting that one of my concepts should be a group of clouds.

Color and Composition

Getting close to a final logo

I decided to move forward with the glasses concept. I chose the color blue as a visual reference to blue skies. I'm exploring negative space within the composition here.
